OSHO WORLD FOUNDATION PRESENTED “AHOBHAV ” AT FICCI AUDITORIUM

Osho World Foundation presented “Ahobhav: His blessings showering always” an evening dedicated to meditative music by Shubha Mudgal and Prem Joshua at FICCI Auditorium, in New Delhi on 3rd December 2006.

Chief Guest Shri L.K. Advani, former Union Minister for Home Affairs, inaugurated the evening by launching the Osho World Patrika special anniversary issue and an website www.oshobodhisattva.com dedicated to Osho.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Advani said that though he was not fortunate enough to meet Osho in person, but through his audio tapes and books, he realized that in modern India, there has been no other spiritual master who has touched such heights.

“Through the medium of His tapes and books is what I saw and understood, based on that I can say that in modern India, there has been no other spiritual master who has touched such heights.”

“Osho said that all arts have their origin in meditation and music perhaps is the greatest of these arts because music is nothing but interplay of silence and sound. After all meditation means silence. I believe that hardly there is any topic or spiritual mystic of the world on whom he has not spoken. Todays evening is itself a combination of Zorba the Buddha. When I read his book Einstein the Buddha, I realized what a vision he had. Such original thinkers are very rare in the world. I pay tribute to him and I thank Osho world for inviting me and my family, some of whom have especially arrived for this programme. My heartiest greetings to you on 75th birth year of such a great thinker.”

“Ahobhav: His blessings showering always” was in continuation of other events being organized by Osho World to mark Osho’s 75th birth year celebrations. Started with Zila Khan’s performance at Osho World galleria in December 2005, Osho World Foundation has presented 2 shows of “Raja”, a play by Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore at the Kamani Auditorium in April 2006, “Guru Vandana” an evening of Indian classical music by Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar and sitar concert by Ustad Usman Khan in September 2006 at FICCI auditorium, “The Revolution Within” by Dr. Mallika Sarabhai in October at FICCI auditorium, “Tantra: The song of Mahamudra”, by Dr. Ileana Citaristi and her team and sitar concert by Anwar Khurshid in November 2006 at FICCI auditorium as a part of the ongoing 75th birth year celebrations.

Also was present during the event, Former Union Minister Shri Vijay Goel and Humorist Surendra Sharma as Guests of Honour.

“Ahobhav: His blessings showering always” was the final event of the year long celebrations.

Indian culture places 'Gurus' who impart knowledge, in par with the Gods. Acquiring that knowledge of the ultimate truth forms the basis of a mans future. Paying gratitude to a guru is like paying gratitude to truth, knowledge and invaluable experiences.

Osho says, connection with the guru is the relationship of the soul and the greatest of all the relationships. The guru is the end of this world and the beginning of the next. He is the gate.

Osho not only brought the timeless wisdom of the east to the modern man but also devised different techniques of meditations to help quiet the restless mind and gave the seekers an avenue to experience the ultimate. Sharing His vision of the new man, Osho inspired the modern man to live a life based on meditation.

Osho says “Meditation brings your creativity to an expression. Whatsoever is hidden in you will become unhidden; whatsoever you are carrying within you will be sung, will be danced -- whatsoever it is.”

Music is an expression of meditation. Speaking on different forms of art, Osho explains that the artist through meditation leaves himself in the hands of existence and then it is existence that paints, writes, sings and dances through the artist. The painter, poet, sculptor, dancer or singer becomes instrumental in the hands of existence and they no longer remain artists but dissolve and become one. The painter becomes the painting, the dancer becomes dance and the poet becomes the poem. The individual artist disappears and becomes one with the art.

Shubha Mudgal is a musical prodigy. A storehouse of knowledge and wisdom, she imparts knowledge as eagerly as she acquires it. She is equally involved in the composition and lyrics as she is with her vocals. She has a distinct aura about herself which adds to the wonderful person that she is, someone you want to meet over and over again...someone you feel like doing so much for. A constant, relentless and inborn appetite to adapt different musical styles and experiment with different genres of music have brought out the best in Shubha Mudgal. She has often left audiences spellbound with her versatility and command over virtually every form of music.

Prem Joshua, multi-instrumentalist and composer, is one of the pioneers of the world music scene. Born in Germany, Joshua is now based in Tuscany/Italy. But for the last 30 years his real home has always been India, where he has altogether spent more than 10 years, studying music with several masters, especially on sitar, bamboo flute and vocals. But in spite of Joshua's classical studies his real passion has always been in experimenting with new sounds, in the merging of traditions of the East and West. Over the years and 15 CD releases under his own name he has clearly created his own unique sound, which can roughly be described as 'Indo-Global Music'.

Prem Joshua was accompanied by the Indian rhythm phenomenon, Raul Sengupta on the tablas, congas and a large assortment of ethnic percussions; multi-instrumentalist Chintan Relenberg, who set a clear counterpart to the ethnic rhythms of Raul and acoustic Indian sounds of Joshua by adding elements of Urban Lounge, Trance and Jazz. and Japanese bass player Sat Fukuda.
