1. What are the reasons for man's insensitivities and can Tantra help remove them?

Answer:
The reason for human insensitivity is because we have a tendency to fear both physical and psychological pain. In order to protect ourselves from such pain, we create layers of protection and armoring. Naturally, when one is living in fear and protection, we tend to go into a defensive mode, always on the alert that someone may attack our stronghold and break down our defenses. When someone lives in a defensive and protected state, they will not feel much. The layers of protection prevent us from feeling anything. And when we are in such an insensitive state, there will be a tendency to need extremes of sensation in order to feel alive at all. We crave constant and extreme modes of excitement, entertainment, violence, tastes and smells, because we actually have very little ability to sense anything at all. The way to come through this, is to turn around and embrace our pain, our fear and our dullness. Instead of running away from these dark corners of our being, we can face them, and learn the lessons hidden there. In many cases, we will come face to face with our inner child, who was hurt, and carries the wound as an imbedded imprint. This imprint can be transformed through love. The moment we are able to face our fear, to embrace the wounding with awareness, it will automatically transform into love, since love is our very essence. As we pierce through the layers of pain and protection, we will come face to face with the quality of love, which is omnipresent in the universe.

2. How to transform desire and ambition the Tantra way?

Answer:
The Tantra way to transform desire and ambition is by accepting these qualities and creating a method of meditation to better understand the nectar hidden in them. Any human quality can be discovered in it's divine essence by bringing awareness to it. Each desire is like an arrow pointing us towards the supreme desire of our soul to be reunited with the quality of Godliness. Therefore, if we can move deeply into desire, with a witnessing consciousness, this seemingly mundane desire will be revealed in it's pure aspect. Ambition can be treated in a similar manner. People are ambitious because they sense they have great potential, but have not found the way to live this potential in it's full glory. Perhaps they have not found a way to love themselves, and therefore seek adulation coming from others. Or perhaps they have not discovered their own inner richness, and therefore search for outer riches to fill the hole. You can imagine a tree in it's seed form. The seed knows on some level that it is destined to become a huge towering tree, offering shade to many. But perhaps this tree has had to push through rock to try and reach it's full potential, and has become stunted in it's growth. Such a tree, may have great ambition to reach it's full glory, but just doesn't find the way how to do so. If we could offer this same tree which has become warped, some wonderful soil full of good nutrition, and enough water and sun to support healthy growth, the stunted tree would soon find it's true potential. In the same manner, human beings who are highly ambitious, simply need the right milieu in which to remember their original life purpose.

3. Please explain one Tantra technique to transform fear.

Answer:
A Tantra technique to transform fear is the Darkness Meditation. For an optimum experience of this meditation, find a space which is absolutely dark, pitch black darkness. Sit in this space and look into the darkness with open eyes, for approximately 20 minutes. In the 2nd phase of the meditation, lay down in the fetal position, with closed eyes, and sense yourself merging into the womb of the universe.

If you do this meditation as a series, you will quickly be able to move into and beyond fear. You can do it, 3, 6, 9, or 12 times. All fear is related to the fear of void, and ultimately, of death. By welcoming the experience of darkness, we face void, and it is in the void that we come into contact with the eternity of the soul. Having experienced the eternal nature of the soul, we discover peace, deep and profound peace.
