Journey of the Heart

MAIN STORY
Enlightenment is not a goal. It is not there, far away, that you have to reach to it. You cannot make an ambition of enlightenment: that is the sure way to miss it.

IN FOCUS - ENLIGHTENMENT
A man asked Buddha: “Everyday you say everyone can become enlightened. Then why doesn’t evetryone become enlightened? ” Buddha said, “In the evening make a list of all those in the town and write down their desires next to their names.” Man came back in the evening and gave the list to Buddha. He asked, “How many of these seek enlightenment? ” Man said, not one person. Then Buddha said, “I say, everyone is capable of enlightenment; I do not say everyone wants enlightenment.”
- By Swami Satya Vedant
Osho has spoken about enlightenment thousands of times. We have listened to him but can it be understood? How can we talk about something that we have no direct personal experience of? Or better, something that we already are (as He said), but have lost the key for, have forgotten? At best I can talk about all the things we do to avoid becoming enlightened!
- By Ma Anand Bhagwati

TOPICS
“The desire for enlightenment is the greatest barrier in attaining it.If a situation can be created in which you are so blissful, so contented, that just for a moment there is no desire in your mind, you have learned a great lesson -- that if this state of no-desire can continue every moment, you need not bother about enlightenment: it will come to you.”
“Art has nothing to do directly with enlightenment, but enlightenment has much to do with art. When many enlightened people exist in the world, they create a different kind of world, they create different kinds of things, naturally.”
The nature of meditation is such that it cannot function if your mind is occupied with some attainment. That attainment functions like a rock. Only a man who has nothing to attain, who is simply sitting for the joy of it, reaches to enlightenment so easily that it almost seems as if no effort has been made.
“It is easy to drop the desires of the worldly things, but when you drop worldly desires, immediately, the mind creates the other-worldly desires: moksha, nirvana, enlightenment, God. Now you hanker for these. The situation remains the same -- you remain in desire. When the mind is freed from desire, suddenly, you become aware of the king of kings sitting inside. The achieving mind is the barrier.”

Laughter is therapy; Let it Heal
The Times of India, New Delhi
1st February 2008
Osho says : “Laughter is therapy. If you enjoy a belly laughter without restraint, to find your Buddha will be the easiest job, because you will be free of all seriousness, tensions, inhibitions, suppressions… And in this freedom only can one find Buddha. I want you to laugh as deeply as possible, so you are unburdened. Then meditation is very easy, for nothing inhibits you. My contribution to the world is to make sense of humour a part of spiritual growth. A man who cannot laugh is sick—sick unto death.”
Romance in Shiva-Shakti’s Dance
The Times of India, New Delhi
8th February 2008
Our head is mathematical, always calculating the pros and cons of responding to life. We open up a bit—as much as our mind allows—and then move back. We miss the vastness of life that is always available to nourish us, support us, give us wings. We miss out on the real romance.
Be Angry — The Meditative Way
The Times of India, New Delhi
15th February 2008
Pause and think—are you human or a machine? If you do everything unconsciously, you are a machine. Things happen to you—you react. Somebody insults you, you react in anger instantly, without thinking. Somebody praise you—you jump in joy, without pausing. In both cases, you’re a machine.

BOOK INTRO
“All our lives we are running. What are we running from? What is the fear? The fear is that on the one hand we are unable to live fully, and on the other hand the fear of death is imminent, present. Both things are interconnected… then what is the answer?”

MEDITATION

LAUGHTER
When you laugh, it is not simply a laugh. Your whole body changes. If the society you have been brought up in has inhibited laughing, then your abdomen will have a different shape than if you were brought up in a society that encourages laughter. People brought up in certain societies cannot really laugh because laughter has been inhibited.
