1. HOW CAN ONE CONVERT THE SEX ACT INTO A MEDITATIVE EXPERIENCE?
Answer:
The way to convert any aspect of life, including sex, into a meditative experience, is to apply a witnessing consciousness to it. When we apply a witnessing consciousness to sex, it will be revealed in it's refined potential. The refined potential of each aspect of life is divine. In Tantra, the sex act will be held in a sacred space, using particular meditation practices, rituals, mantras, yantras, or other consciousness raising devices. Each Tantra meditation will reveal the full potential of whatever it is focusing on. For example, if it is a meditation using touch, then the divine potential inherent in the act of touching or being touched will be revealed. If it is a meditation which uses eating and drinking, then these experiences will be infused with ecstatic awareness. If a man and woman would like to discover the ultimate hidden in their union, what we could refer to as the soul of sex, then they can use Tantra practices to go on this journey, into the divine essence of what male female union is, Shiva Shakti, as the supreme creation principle. Such a union is both earthy and transcendental. Through Tantra meditation we have the possibility to discover that sex and samadhi are one.
2. CAN TANTRA HELP TRANSFORM JEALOUSY?
Answer:
Jealousy is a red hot topic which trips up even the most dedicated meditator. Luckily, one of the meanings of Tantra is, 'transforming poison into nectar.' In this sense, we can use Tantra to transform any of the so called negative aspects of our life, including jealousy. It is good to understand that in fact, if we are jealous of someone, this feeling comes about because we are projecting some un-lived aspect of ourselves onto the person we are jealous about. We are imagining that this person is able to have a level of fulfillment that we are denied. To heal this wound within ourselves, it is wise to ask the question, "if I could do whatever I wanted to right now, what would it be?" Once you have found out what your underlying desire is, then you can create a meditation out of living it, as consciously as possible. In this scenario, it is important not to believe you need the other in order to act it out. You can distill your desire to it's very essence, which means you going for your core need. A sutra from the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra says: "Objects and desires exist in me as in others. So accepting, let them be transformed."
By accepting our desires, and acting them out as a meditation, we will be able to discover powerful lessons and insights which will enhance our clarity, wisdom and compassion. An important key in this is to be total. The more honest we are with our core desires, and the more total in acting them out, the more clarity and transformation will happen. When you are doing exactly what you want, in the here and now with your full passion and creativity, it will be impossible to be in a state of jealousy. You will be so fully alive, so in the flow of who you are meant to be, that you will have no need to project your life force energy on another and compare. You will be in the flow. Jealousy can only exist in stagnation.
3. HOW CAN TANTRA HELP TO BRING LOVE TO THE LIFE OF MODERN MAN WHO IS UNDER CONSTANT TENSION AND STRESS?
Answer:
Tantra is the alchemical magic that happens when love and awareness meet. The modern man and woman are in a state of perpetual multitasking. We are like hamsters spinning round and round on the wheel inside their cage, running on the wheel in perpetual motion. When we discover a way to arrive to the still center, we find out that love is the very stuff we are made of. We were so busy running on the wheel of time we were not aware that we live in an ocean of timeless love. In this sense, Tantra is asking us to simply stop, and be aware, to remember what is already within us. There is a wonderful sutra for this in the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra: "Roam about until exhausted and then, dropping to the ground, in this dropping be whole."
This state of wholeness is love itself.
Tantra will always help us to use where we are at as a door into expanded consciousness. If you are in stress, be in stress totally, and with deep awareness. This is what the meditation above will help you to do. And then, let go, and discover the reality which is eternally present, the still center in the wheel of life. We are made of the stuff called love. It is impossible to escape from it. At the most, we can be so lost in busyness that we are unaware of it. The moment we become aware, there is nothing other than love.
